We are looking for a resilient and hands on Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a mainstream Primary School however within their Specially Resourced Unit for children with SEN, particularly with Autism. 

The Role

In this Teaching Assistant role, you will be supporting pupils with Autism (High and low functioning) as well as other special needs in year 5. The pupils display behaviours that challenge therefore you must be confident in managing challenging behaviour as well as setting and maintaining boundaries. 

The School are looking with someone who is hands on, proactive and who can use their initiative. 

The school are seeking a Teaching Assistant with the following: 

  • Experience supporting children with Autism
  • Experience of using visuals to structure sessions, including visual timetables, now/next boards, Makaton or PECS 
  • Able to use calm, clear use of language
  • Confident in behaviour management and boundaries

This role is offered on a full-time ongoing contract basis ASAP 

The School

 

The School is a mainstream Primary School with an Additionall Resourced Provision for children who have an EHCP with a primary need of Autism. Their provision is divided into two classes (Reception and KS1) and (KS2). Alongside the core subjects, there is a strong emphasis on learning in the following areas of the curriculum:

• Communication and Language
• Personal, Social and Emotional Development
• Physical Development (including health and self-care)
• Life Skills
