Veritas Education are working with an OFSTED 'outstanding' school based in the borough of Wandsworth that are looking for a psychology graduate teaching assistant to join a reception classroom until the end of the academic year. Your main responsibility as a psychology graduate teaching assistant will be to work with a student that has mild SEN and would need assistance throughout the day to stay on task and have the best experience learning in school. As the students 1:1 and psychology graduate teaching assistant you will need to be attentive, hard working and passionate about working with SEN. All psychology graduate teaching assistants will join the SEN department and work closely together to grow and progress all students learning.

The school will nurture each child's individuality and self-belief to enable them to achieve their absolute best. As a psychology graduate teaching assistant, you will be asked to adopt these values and the school's overall ethos. You will inspire and enrichen the student's creativity, curiosity and love of learning through a rich, exciting and challenging curriculum. You will prepare them for future life by fostering the values of kindness, resilience and responsibility. All workers including psychology graduate teaching assistants will have access to parking and the school is easy to commute to with bus stations and overgrounds within walking distance.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A PSYCHOLOGY GRADUATE TEACHING ASSISTANT:

Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant Support for Pupils

  • Support pupils to make good academic progress, under the direction of the teacher and Inclusion leader
  • Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence
  • Implement group or 1:1 interventions to support pupils who have emotional or social barriers to learning
  • Establish constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils

QUALIFICATIONS FOR PSYCHOLOGY GRADUATE TEACHING ASSISTANT

Desirable for psychology graduate teaching assistant:

  • An honours degree in psychology (preferably Upper Second) or equivalent
