We are seeking a dedicated Science Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our team from September 2024. As an LSA, you will provide crucial support to students who struggle to access the Science curriculum and may be working several years below expected levels. Your role will involve tailoring support to help these students overcome challenges and achieve their educational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with autism, anxiety, and other challenges.
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of Science lessons, adapting resources and activities to meet individual student needs.
  • Support students who are working below expected levels to engage with and understand the Science curriculum.
  • Work closely with teachers to monitor student progress and develop strategies to support their learning and development.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and enthusiasm for Science.
  • Help create and implement individualized learning plans for students requiring additional support.
  • Collaborate with the school’s SEN (Special Educational Needs) team and participate in relevant professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with autism, anxiety, or other learning difficulties.
  • Previous experience in tutoring or educational support roles is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of Science subjects and the ability to adapt resources for diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
