One of our lovely Newham-based Secondary schools are looking to draft a Speech & Language TA who can play a key role in the academic development and in-school engagement of some of their students - sound good...?
As a Speech & Language TA, you will:
*Develop and prepare visual materials for therapy and classroom sessions
*Keep written records of pupil observations
*Carrying out general Teaching Assistant responsibilities in amongst your Speech and Language role
*Work under supervision of the school SENCo and various Class Teachers
*Provide effective support to less experienced colleagues, modelling good practice!
This Speech & Language TA role will include extensive in house and external training, designed to further develop your S+L profile, and there will be support and supervision from the Speech and Language Therapy Department. The pupils in question are in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 and make steady academic progress, but the schools new Speech & Language TA will be charged with engaging these students 1:1, helping them break down learning and manage their S+L difficulties to help them progress at a faster rate, along with developing their social skills.
