GSL Education London Branch is seeking a Designated Safeguarding Lead to join a supportive and dynamic girls' secondary school in Tower Hamlets. Responsibilities of the Designated Safeguarding LeadAs the Designated Safeguarding Lead, your responsibilities include:
- To keep clear, accurate and up- to-date records of all work with identified vulnerable students.
- Within an agreed system of supervision by the Designated Safeguarding Lead, to take responsibility for completing Early Help Assessments (EHAs), Personal Education Plans (PEPs) and other internal or externally required assessment data for all identified students.
- To establish productive working relationships with identified students, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
- To work with parents, carers, staff, social workers and external agencies to achieve the best possible outcomes for identified students.
- To monitor, mentor and support identified students to achieve progress to academic targets.
- To attend all appropriate meetings both on and off-site in relation to identified students
- To undertake accompanied home visits as required.
- To provide accurate and detailed reports on the progress, attainment, attendance and well-being of identified students, for staff, governors and other key stakeholders.
- To undertake professional development and training to fully equip you for the role of DDSL
- To work with school staff to plan and implement intervention strategies to support the needs of the identified students.
- To attend the school’s student support panel and contributing to planned intervention programmes.
To be considered for this Designated Safeguarding Lead role, you should:
- Have a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
- Hold a relevant qualification or experience in a safeguarding role within a school setting.
- Be knowledgeable about current legislation and guidance, such as Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, staff, and external agencies.
- Be highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of handling sensitive information.
- Possess an enhanced DBS check on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
