BOSS have been retained by a leading Clean Technology company who have an opening for a Product Manager. As a Product Manager, you will sit at the intersection of the mechanical design, control and power electronics, build and test teams, using your project management and command of core engineering principles to progress our innovative technology from concept through to production-ready.

Product Manager Responsibilities:

  • Report to and work directly with the CTO to run the IPG product development program
  • Determine and coordinate the work and activities of the design, control and power electronics, analysis, and potentially a future software team.
  • Lead product development from initial requirements planning in conjunction with the commercial team, through concept, detail design, analysis, testing, prototype and through to production in conjunction with the production team, and all the necessary steps in between.
  • Identify alongside the product and production teams various testing activities required, to formulate matrix teams across the company to conduct tests, and lead testing activities. Confidence working with and/or project managing high voltage power systems, and gas systems is advantageous.
  • Develop, maintain, and report long term product development timelines and budgets with aid from the CTO.
  • Oversee and manage levels of procurement activity associated to product development.
  • Be involved in and contribute to commercial and investor communications where required, and be prepared to get your hands dirty doing a variety of build, test, and product delivery work.
  • Travel with fair regularity, especially during testing periods to our build and test facilities in Hoddesdon. Travel occasionally for meetings with suppliers, customers, investors, and conferences.

What we need from you as a Product Manager:

  • A proven track record of leading or contributing to hardware or integrated product development, and ideally worked within all stages of a standard product life cycle
  • Comfortable understanding of core engineering design principles
  • 5+ years in hardware or integrated product development, and 2+ years of project management with experience managing multiple projects in parallel
  • A degree level qualification in mechanical engineering, high voltage electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, electronics engineering, or a Masters or Doctorate in Science with the above equivalent professional experience in product development.
  • Strong proficiency in the use and understanding of Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software. Autodesk Inventor or Siemens NX preferred, but not a requirement. A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to simplify and present complex analytical concepts to both an executive audience and other members of the team
