Product Manager (Portfolio of Qualifications)

Are you an experienced qualifications and product lifecycle professional with a passion for innovation and team-building?

Our client - an established awarding body is looking for an experienced Portfolio Manager within their product team.

Join our client to lead a transformative role in overseeing a diverse qualification portfolio with both UK-regulated and international offerings.

The role

With extensive experience in education, a strong understanding of qualifications, the educational landscape, and funding frameworks, as well as deep insight into our target audiences, you will lead a team of five, including Product Managers, to ensure the success of the qualifications portfolio. You will also take the lead on shaping the product portfolio strategy and overseeing the management and development of products throughout their entire lifecycle.

Your core responsibilities include:

Product Leadership and Portfolio Management: Manage the full lifecycle of qualifications across a suite of products, ensuring coherence and integration across the portfolio.

Strategy Development: Shape and deliver business cases for new qualification products, ensuring compliance with UK regulatory and funding requirements.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues, experts, and customers to leverage insights for strategic decision-making and ensure alignment with organisational goals.

Team Leadership: Build and integrate a cohesive team of new and existing staff, fostering collaboration and shared purpose across departments.

Financial Management: Manage budgets for development projects (£50k–£200k) and larger initiatives, focusing on return on investment, pricing, and financial strategies.

Hybrid: home-working blended with 1-2 days working out of our client’s London offices.
Starting salary range: £65,000 - £68,000 + good benefits

Candidate profile

The successful candidate will meet the following key requirements:

Qualifications Expertise - Deep knowledge of qualifications, including full life cycle development process, awarding bodies, and the UK education sector. Experience in professional body contexts or international markets is desirable.

Regulated qualifications – Solid expertise in developing products within a regulated environment, as well as knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulation.

Strategic Thinker - Skilled in designing qualification frameworks, managing portfolios, and translating regulatory standards into viable business propositions.

Confident Communicator - Comfortable with public speaking and engaging a variety of stakeholders, including customers and experts.

Strong Leadership - Capable of uniting strong personalities within a dynamic team and leading with assurance.

Organised & Results-Driven - Demonstrates a delivery-focused mindset with excellent organisation skills.

Financial Acumen - Experienced in developing business cases, managing project budgets, and ensuring financial viability of products.
