One of our favourite agency client is looking for a Freelance Programme Director to assist them on a second phase of a product development project. The Programme Director will be supported by all of the original team from phase 1 so there is a lot of retained knowledge on the team. Working as part of this fab team you will be responsible for helping to understand the client's brief, gather and prioritise requirements, set up projects correctly, task plan with a team, establish project costs, track, monitor and report on project progress. As programme Director is will be your responsibility to manage the delivery of a large, technically complex digital product development project for a financial services client.

As programme Director you will need to have fantastic communication skills, work in a collaborative yet assertive way, and hold a high degree of responsibility. You will be amazing at building and nurturing relationships and manage external and internal stakeholders whilst keeping projects on track. You will ensure our internal processes are translated into working practices and be responsible for ensuring these are adhered to at all times.

Key Requirements in this Programme Director role are:

  • Managing technical projects of varying size and complexity
  • Manage projects across both waterfall and Agile methodologies as appropriate
  • Produce all necessary documentation on your account(s); ensuring correct templates are used where necessary
  • Monitor financial tracking on a per project basis and work with your department and account leads to mitigate any issues that arise
  • Developing great working relationships with other departments and promoting positive liaisons at the project level
  • Support the project's BA to elicit, review, prioritise and document business requirements for ticket creation and roadmap planning
  • Supporting client-side project stakeholders by representing requirements and business value within the business
  • Co-owning client demos and milestone readout sessions with stakeholders
  • Managing feature prioritisation, ensuring stakeholders understand constraints
  • Own, maintain, refine and prioritise the team backlog with the input from the team
  • Advising customer experience and creative design teams to help bring the product to life

As Programme Director must have the following essential skills, knowledge or abilities:

  • Extensive experience of delivering projects within top digital agency environment
  • This will include complex projects across a breadth of technologies and channels
  • Experience working on Umbraco and Sitecore development and BAU support projects is desirable
  • Ability to quickly understand project briefs or the status of in-flight projects that are assigned to you
  • Ability to quickly absorb agency processes and understand how to apply them to manage projects effectively from the outset
  • Deep industry knowledge, with experience in a relevant area such as user experience, software development, Product Ownership or business analysis
  • Experience working with Azure DevOps and Asana, or other work management tools
  • Experience working with UX, CX, CMS, design and development teams on a daily basis across a split geography team
  • Proven ability to create, manage and track against a milestones (e.g. roadmap or timeline), flagging blockers, dependencies etc early on to avoid delays
  • A proven track record of managing complex projects and implementing innovative, interactive and consumer focused solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with peers and clients, and the ability to achieve results under challenging circumstances
  • Ability to make sound commercial and financial decisions, quickly grasp an understanding of complex problems and propose solutions to facilitate fast resolutions
  • Ability to work well under pressure, whilst remaining objective and retaining a positive approach
  • Be self-motivated, self-driven and independent, requiring little day-to-day oversight
  • Demonstrated commitment to high standards of excellence and integrity, showing solid business acumen and sound judgement
  • Outstanding communication skills at all levels, (presentation, written, verbal)
  • Exceptional skills in GSuite,Asana and Azure DevOps, with a very high degree of overall computer literacy
  • Highly organised and tenacious, with exceptional attention to detail
  • PRINCE2 Practitioner/Scrum Master/Product Owner accreditation is desired, but not essential
