Job Title: Team Leader

Department: Production (Assembly)

The Role
To ensure the continued smooth running of Assembly team to meet the production plan and to satisfy quality requirements in line with lean principles Main Duties and Areas of Responsibility (in order of priority)


* To organise the workforce, tooling, machinery and materials to meet internal and external customer requirements
*To ensure output is to the required quality standards

*Manage continuous improvement and lean manufacturing on the section by reducing scrap, increasing quality, maximising productivity and minimising downtime.
*To ensure that staff operate in a clean, tidy and safe environment and follow health and safety procedures, including COSHH, PPE and risk assessments
*To follow ISO9001 quality procedures and internal procedures
*To identify skill requirements and ensure these are met through use of existing staff, temporary staff or new employees

*To work with and influence people outside the section to achieve the above
*To set and operate machinery within the section as and when necessary

Supervisory Responsibility
*Always provide clear and unambiguous leadership

*Carry out annual PDR's and give regular informal one-to-ones to ensure individual objectives are clear and up-to-date
*Deal with difficult issues, fairly and effectively, following company procedures
*Give staff regular feedback on their performance and recognition for a job well-done as and when necessary
*Provide appropriate levels of coaching, development and support to their team and recognise that everyone is different
*Manage and monitor staff attendance using company time and attendance system
*To work with the HR department to interview and select new staff as and when required

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Competence required

*Have a working knowledge of Health & Safety in the workplace and employment/company law
*Understand the business, its people and its processes
*Understand Lean principles
*Have an understanding of MRP planning systems
*Be qualified to minimum GCSE level in maths and English
*Be flexible and accurate with a positive manner and good organisational skills
*Have leadership experience

*Microsoft Office, Teams, MRP/ERP system

*In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the jobholder is required to perform other duties assigned from time to time.

*The jobholder should be aware of and comply with company and statutory requirements regarding health & safety, fire and hygiene.
