The Opportunity:

Our local government client is seeking an Interim Programme Manager to work closely with the Assistant Director of Strategy, taking the lead on developing a new, insight-led approach to organisational reporting on their Council Delivery Plan. This role is integral in shaping the strategic direction of our reporting processes, bringing innovation to data analysis, and ensuring clarity in their quarterly delivery updates.

In this dynamic role, you will:

  • Diagnose and review their current reporting arrangements and Council Delivery Plan processes, benchmarking best practices within other local authorities.
  • Identify and develop improvement proposals for more effective and insight-driven reporting.
  • Design a future-focused strategy for reporting on council objectives that aligns with long-term planning.
  • Create high-quality reporting frameworks that promote a culture of innovation, curiosity, and engagement, providing actionable insights for senior leadership and council members.

About You:

We’re looking for a motivated professional with a strong foundation in programme management, PMO, process improvement, and stakeholder engagement. You bring:

  • Experience in Local Government, specifically within a PMO or data analysis and reporting environment. Experience with other public sector organisations in related fields is also welcome.
  • A collaborative, relationship-focused approach with an ability to engage meaningfully with stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Exceptional organisational and planning skills that allow you to anticipate challenges, manage complex processes, and ensure consistent delivery.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills to drive clarity in reporting and stakeholder engagement.
  • A commitment to developing governance standards and frameworks that ensure accountability and transparency.
  • Adaptability and empathy, with a capacity to relate to diverse stakeholders and support their engagement in the council’s strategic goals.
