About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Project Director with a strong background in quantity surveying to lead and oversee the delivery of data centre construction projects in London. This role requires a strategic thinker with extensive commercial and leadership experience to take full ownership of project delivery, ensuring financial, contractual, and operational success.

As Project Director, you will drive the commercial strategy, manage high-value client relationships, and lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex, mission-critical projects within the rapidly growing data centre sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership:

    • Lead the end-to-end delivery of data centre projects, ensuring alignment with client and organizational objectives.
    • Develop and implement project-specific commercial strategies.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for senior client representatives, ensuring client satisfaction and long-term relationships.
  • Commercial Oversight:

    • Manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost control measures.
    • Oversee the preparation and negotiation of contracts, variations, and claims, ensuring compliance with legal and contractual obligations.
    • Lead the management of final accounts and ensure timely financial reporting to senior stakeholders.
  • Operational Excellence:

    • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and site teams to ensure seamless project execution.
    • Monitor project progress, addressing risks and resolving issues promptly.
    • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Risk and Compliance Management:

    • Identify, mitigate, and manage commercial risks across all project stages.
    • Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations, contractual requirements, and industry standards.
  • Team Leadership:

    • Provide mentorship and direction to quantity surveyors and project teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
    • Recruit, develop, and retain top talent within the commercial and project management teams.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and share best practices across the organization.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:

    • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to build and maintain strong relationships.
    • Represent the organization at key client and industry meetings.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10–15 years of experience in quantity surveying or commercial management, with a proven track record of managing large-scale data centre or technical construction projects.
  • MRICS or equivalent professional accreditation (highly preferred).
  • Extensive knowledge of standard forms of contract (e.g., NEC, JCT) and construction law.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in managing budgets exceeding £50M+.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Proficiency in commercial management tools (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, MS Excel).
