Randstad are recruiting for experienced Highways Schemes Project Manager to join a reputable integrated services contractor on a term maintenance contract in the Greater London Area.

Previous experience working on highways term maintenance contracts (TFL) is highly enouraged.

Scope of work will include roadworks and resurfacing schemes, street lighting, Lining and Signing projects, Accessibility upgrades, Urban Realm Improvement, walking / cycling paths, public transport enhancements, Capital maintenance projects for structures

Majority of works will be around West / SW London commutable by public transport.

The successful applicant will have experience in full life cycle delivery of projects and also liaising with designers and client.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Plan and execute large-scale, complex projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to established timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Client Engagement: Represent client interests, communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, and maintain clear communication regarding project status and progress.
  • Project Planning & Execution: Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets. Monitor project performance against these plans and provide regular progress reports.
  • Team Leadership: Provide guidance and support to project managers and assistant project managers, sharing expertise in project management methodologies and tools.
  • Risk & Issue Management: Identify, assess, and address project risks and issues. Escalate issues as necessary, ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are implemented.
  • Program Oversight: Lead and manage a portfolio of projects, overseeing the work of individual project managers and coordinating efforts to achieve program objectives.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering / HNC Equivalent
  • Traffic/Highway Engineering Project Management: Proven ability to manage the execution of traffic and highway engineering projects for contracting firms, encompassing technical, health and safety, communication, and financial aspects.
  • Contractual Expertise: Demonstrated experience in working within contractual frameworks, with a preference for familiarity with NEC contracts.
  • Contract Administration: Strong expertise in contract administration, proven through past experience.
  • Legal Compliance: Thorough understanding of relevant legislation governing project delivery, including the Highway Act, NRSWA Act, TMA Act, and other applicable regulations.
  • Project Lifecycle Experience: Proven ability to lead projects from initial exploration through detailed design, planning consent, and construction phases.
