Job Summary and Responsibilities  

We have two available positions for a full-time Project Manager and a fixed-term Project Manager for maternity leave cover to join our London team. Both roles are integral to the business, with primary responsibilities to manage client relationships and oversee the delivery of safe and accurate structures, stages, and seating in an efficient, professional, and friendly manner. 

As the initial point of contact for new and established clients, you will play a crucial role in guiding them through the entire hiring process, from initial design phase to effective and successful delivery. Daily responsibilities will involve close collaboration with the Warehouse and Operations teams and working alongside the Projects and Management teams, leveraging your expertise, your role will involve collaborating with a diverse client base to ensure the success of their events, delivering exceptional quality and exceeding client expectations which has earned us a reputation that consistently surpasses customer satisfaction. 

The roles would be ideal for individuals with exceptional interpersonal skills who are well-organised and can skilfully represent the business to potential clients. Highly desirable qualities include experience in events and structures, a strong understanding of current Health and Safety (CDM 2015) regulations, as well as a demonstrating proven leadership skill. Effective communication with site crew, clients, and colleagues is crucial. Training will be provided to the right candidates including Working at Height and First Aid. 

  • Hours: Office hours are 08:00–16:30 (Monday to Friday). Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. Steeldeck operates a TOIL or overtime payment policy. 
  • Start Date: As soon as possible
  • Salary: £44,000 to £48,000 pa (dependant on experience) 
  • Holiday: 25 days (per year pro rata) plus bank holidays 

Responsibilities 

  • Managing enquiries from new and existing clients.  Planning and designing structures to client requirements whilst in keeping with best practice.  Promoting new equipment or services to drive sales.  Accurate completion of site surveys and assisting clients with their location.  Calculation of quotes for equipment hire, transport and staffing for events.  Liaison with Operations, Warehouse, Crew and Driving teams to ensure projects are delivered effectively, sustainably, safely and on schedule.  Compiling Risk Assessment and Method Statements.  Managing a team of on-site crew, scheduling workload and ensuring their welfare alongside Health and Safety compliance under Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. 

Essential Skills and Requirements   

  • Excellent client care skills. 
  • Self-motivated and able to work well as part of a team. 
  • A good communicator and team leader. 
  • Adaptable and able to work well under pressure and deal with last minute changes. 
  • Able to travel and be away from home or our London office, dependant on location of event. 
  • Able to plan and prioritise a varied workload whilst maintaining attention to detail. 
  • Experience drawing with AutoCAD (2D), and interoperating existing client and venue drawings. 

Desirable Experience 

  • Knowledge of Steeldeck staging, temporary demountable structures, and the events industry.  Knowledge of ABTT Technical Standards for Places of Entertainment.  Knowledge of IStructE guide to Temporary Demountable Structures.  Experience working in a busy office with the ability to handle multiple enquiries at one time.  Use of Asset Management or CRM software (Current RMS)  Experience in building, designing or realising basic scenic elements and carpentry.   Full UK Driving licence.
