My client is an international Renewable Energy Developer with a proven track record of building, owning, and operating renewable energy projects. They have a very large pipeline of projects in the BESS space and have just recently gone through a major round of funding securing £200 million in investment. This gives you an idea of the trajectory this business is on.

This business is looking to add an experienced Development Manager to their team in order to continue the growth of their development in the UK.  In this role, you will be responsible for the project management of a number of thier greenfield development projects, covering all areas of project management and taking projects from the concept design phase through to construction. You will deliver a pipeline of ready-to-build projects ready for handover to construction. 

You will need a strong consenting background and experience in delivering high-quality planning applications. Experience in battery energy storage systems (BESS) and an associated knowledge of grid connections and BESS design is highly desirable. 

Key Responsibilities

This is a very diverse role with the opportunity to have a huge impact on UK Development. Key responsibilities include:
  • Project management of a number of our greenfield development projects, including:
    • Creation and ongoing management of project programmes to ensure timely delivery of planning applications; 
    • Leadership and coordination of core project teams comprising design, grid, and land work packages; 
    • Budget and risk management 
  • Delivery/ management of planning applications for key BESS projects:
    • Procurement and day-to-day management of external environmental and planning consultants to deliver all assessments needed to support a planning application
    • Stakeholder engagement with key statutory consultees and local communities
  • Design management
    • Management of external consultants with a strong understanding of BESS Designs
    • Coordination of in-house grid and design teams to act as Principal Designer in developing site-specific designs suitable for planning. 
The skills you’ll need 
  • 4 + years experience in the project development and consents, within the renewable energy industry
  • Strong understanding of consenting within the UK, including environmental assessments
  • Experience in managing a project team and leadership skills
  • Experience managing external consultants and stakeholder engagement 
  • General understanding of grid, design and land elements of project development in order to manage inputs from technical specialists
