A leading consultancy firm is seeking an experienced professional to oversee the delivery of MEP services for a hyperscale Data Centre project. The ideal candidate will ensure high-quality, time-efficient, and profitable delivery while providing leadership and accountability for compliance, governance, assurance, and management of technical and construction teams. The role involves building and maintaining key relationships with colleagues and both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the MEP team, providing clear direction, guidance, and support to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Ensure the successful delivery of MEP services, including program management, health, safety, and commissioning.
  • Liaise and coordinate with key project stakeholders, forming strong working relationships with clients, consultants, trade contractors, and other team leaders.
  • Lead tendering processes, providing technical and commercial support to bid teams and ensuring adequate resource allocation.
  • Establish procurement strategies, ensuring specialist packages are procured according to agreed scope and budget.
  • Review contracts and scope, assist in preparing budgets, value engineering, schedules, and trade contracts, and support commercial teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and implement project strategic plans aligned with the company’s operating framework and strategic priorities.
  • Oversee design reviews to ensure compliance, coordination, and completeness, including considerations for embodied carbon and operational energy.
  • Prepare and coordinate delivery strategies and programs for all project phases, ensuring milestones, interfaces, dependencies, and logistics are appropriately managed.
  • Support and implement commissioning strategies, ensuring alignment with company standards.
  • Conduct productivity assessments using digital technologies to monitor project progress and identify critical path risks.
  • Manage project closeout, ensuring all completion elements meet high standards, including commissioning, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and client training.
  • Proactively identify risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Drive continuous improvement by reviewing issues and sharing lessons learned.
  • Provide leadership to a team of managers and professionals, ensuring proper tools, capabilities, and structures are in place to achieve project objectives.
  • Deliver performance management, technical development, and coaching to team members.
  • Work collaboratively towards net-zero carbon goals, managing associated carbon emissions during project delivery.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Advanced knowledge of engineering systems, design standards, installation techniques, best practices, prefabrication, and commissioning requirements.
  • Proficient knowledge of construction sequencing, dependencies, planning processes, and management.
  • Advanced understanding of commercial management, procurement processes, risk mitigation, and cost control.
  • In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and welfare regulations, quality assurance, and commissioning processes.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects valued at £25 million or more in MEP services.
  • Experience in relevant construction sectors with demonstrated success in project delivery.
  • Proficiency in building services or a specific engineering discipline.
  • Effective stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead under pressure, make decisions, and provide clear direction.
  • Strong analytical, collaborative, and leadership skills.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a degree in construction or engineering, and certifications like SMSTS and CSCS.

Additional Skills and Attributes:

  • Project experience across diverse technical backgrounds and sectors.
  • Accreditation with professional bodies (e.g., CIBSE, IET, IMechE, SoPHE).
  • Understanding of business strategic goals and their implementation.
  • Relevant bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or construction.
