Are you ready for a career-defining opportunity? Join the expanding team at Sizewell C (SZC) and contribute to one of the UK's most exciting infrastructure projects. SZC is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, following in the footsteps of Hinkley Point C, with planning approval and government financing support already secured. This project will provide reliable electricity for 6 million homes for 60 years, playing a key role in Britain's journey to Net Zero by 2050.

The Role
As a Senior Project/Design Manager, you will play a crucial role in the Civil Works Programme (CWP) within the Engineering & Technical function. Your leadership will drive the successful delivery of key design and engineering scopes, ensuring cost, schedule, and quality targets are met.

You will be responsible for overseeing a matrix team, integrating multi-disciplinary activities, and managing contracts for key suppliers, including the Responsible Designer (RD). This role requires a blend of technical expertise, commercial acumen, and stakeholder engagement skills to manage the interface between design, engineering, and construction teams.

Key Responsibilities
* Project & Contract Management: Lead the delivery of engineering and technical scopes, ensuring all milestones align with project schedules.
* Budget & Schedule Control: Manage the Engineering & Technical budget and Design Supply Chain Contracts, ensuring efficient cost control.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with Civil Works Alliance, Nuclear Island, Site Establishment & Offsite Infrastructure teams to ensure seamless project integration.
* Risk & Change Management: Oversee the SZC Change Management process, identifying risks and facilitating early resolutions.
* Team Leadership: Manage and develop a team of Project Engineers, ensuring effective collaboration across disciplines.
* Reporting & Compliance: Provide accurate progress reports, ensuring adherence to safety, regulatory, and environmental standards.
* Learning & Development: Implement lessons learned from Hinkley Point C, embedding best practices across the project.

What We're Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
* Strong background in civil/structural engineering and temporary works design within large-scale infrastructure projects.
* Proven experience in multi-disciplinary project delivery, managing technical interfaces between design, procurement, and construction.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage internal teams, suppliers, and third-party regulators.
* Solid understanding of CDM Regulations and UK engineering design standards.
* Experience managing external suppliers and complex contracts, including knowledge of CEMAR contract management tools.
* Ability to drive technical leadership, ensuring integration of constructability and design across project stages.

Desirable Experience
* Background in nuclear or highly regulated sectors.
* Knowledge of EPR reactor design and safety-related structures.
* Familiarity with Project Management methodologies such as APM, PRINCE2.
* Working knowledge of French language and culture (an advantage but not essential).

Qualifications
* Essential: Chartered Engineer (MICE or MIStructE) or Chartered Project Manager (MAPM).
* Desirable: Experience in project management for large and complex projects (e.g., Hinkley Point C).
