Interim Director of Property

Location: London (Hybrid working available)

Contract: Interim - 6-months

Pay: Circa Ā£800 per day

Our client, a London local authority is seeking an experienced and strategic Interim Director of Property to lead the development and delivery of its corporate Property and Asset Strategy, oversee major regeneration programmes, and act as the Council's senior lead on complex and high-value property matters.

You will be responsible for

  • Driving forward the Council's corporate Property and Asset Strategy
  • Leading on politically sensitive and commercially complex property issues
  • Providing oversight and property leadership for programmes such as Affordable Homes for Newham
  • Working with senior leadership and external partners (including LLDC and neighbouring boroughs) to deliver high-quality capital programmes, developments, and site assessments
  • Overseeing the performance of property-related budgets across the Council
  • Acting as a senior professional leader and advisor across all property-related functions

Key Requirements

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Professional property qualification (e.g. FRICS, FCIOB, IRRV or similar)
  • Extensive senior-level experience in public sector property management
  • Proven ability to lead and deliver major capital programmes, regeneration schemes, and corporate asset strategies
  • Strong understanding of property legislation, governance, and public sector finance
  • Experience working in politically sensitive environments
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills
