Job Title: Behaviour Mentor (Year 3, 1:1 Support)

The Opportunity:
Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to provide one-to-one support for a Year 3 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a welcoming school in Barking and Dagenham. The pupil occasionally exhibits physical behavior, and this role requires a patient, resilient, and proactive individual who can create a positive and structured environment for learning.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or other additional needs.
- A strong understanding of behavior management strategies and techniques.
- The ability to remain calm, empathetic, and professional when handling challenging behavior.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
- A proactive and adaptable approach to supporting the child's learning and emotional development.
Key responsibilities:
- Providing consistent one-to-one support to a Year 3 pupil with ASD, focusing on their academic, social, and emotional needs.
- Implementing behavior support strategies and working closely with the SENCO and class teacher to develop tailored plans.
- Encouraging positive behavior and helping the pupil engage with classroom activities.
- Supporting the pupil in managing emotions and developing coping strategies.
- Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teachers, parents, and the wider support team.
- Creating a safe and inclusive learning environment where the pupil can thrive.
