The Opportunity:
Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to provide one-to-one support for a Year 3 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a welcoming school in Barking and Dagenham. The pupil occasionally exhibits physical behavior, and this role requires a patient, resilient, and proactive individual who can create a positive and structured environment for learning.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or other additional needs.
  • A strong understanding of behavior management strategies and techniques.
  • The ability to remain calm, empathetic, and professional when handling challenging behavior.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to supporting the child's learning and emotional development.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing consistent one-to-one support to a Year 3 pupil with ASD, focusing on their academic, social, and emotional needs.
  • Implementing behavior support strategies and working closely with the SENCO and class teacher to develop tailored plans.
  • Encouraging positive behavior and helping the pupil engage with classroom activities.
  • Supporting the pupil in managing emotions and developing coping strategies.
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teachers, parents, and the wider support team.
  • Creating a safe and inclusive learning environment where the pupil can thrive.
