Novax Recruitment is actively seeking a Media Officer based in Southwark. This is a contract position working full time hours.

The job:

  • To develop story ideas to promote the key messages, initiatives and policies of the client for print, broadcast and digital media, and to sell stories to journalists with accuracy, imagination and conviction to secure positive coverage for the council.
  • To develop and produce compelling and appropriate content for the council's social media, e-newsletters and other council-owned digital channels and print publications.
  • To create and advise on effective and imaginative social media and other digital content about the council's key messages, policies and initiatives
  • To respond effectively to enquiries from print, broadcast and digital media and ensure that the clients position is accurately, credibly and effectively communicated.
  • To give advice to members and senior officers on the most effective ways of generating positive media coverage and responding to a wide range of enquiries from all kinds of media.

The candidate:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Media relations, editorial, broadcast or online experience
  • Experience creating content for a variety of channels, including digital and social, as well as web content management
  • Public sector experience preferred.
