We are seeking a press officer who has experience in running a busy press office and responding to enquiries.

Description

  • Manage Press Office: Oversee the daily operations of the press office, ensuring smooth communication across teams and handling all media-related activities.
  • Proactive Media Outreach: Pitch compelling stories and campaigns to the media, including a focus on issues such as campaigning against government cuts to national victim services, as well as highlighting regional services being awarded new contracts.
  • Media Relations: Handle incoming media requests, interviews, and reactive inquiries, ensuring timely, accurate, and appropriate responses.
  • Campaign Management: Support media campaigns, including managing the rollout of key messages around government policy changes and social issues, particularly related to victim services.
  • Case Study Development: Work closely with internal teams to develop case studies that will evolve into larger media pieces, ensuring these stories are impactful and resonate with the target audience.
  • Press Office Supervision: Directly manage the day-to-day activities within the press office, ensuring all media requests, queries, and outputs are managed efficiently.
  • Event and Media Management: Coordinate with other team members to organize press events, interviews, and media outreach efforts related to regional service contracts and other key projects.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Work with internal teams, stakeholders, and external partners to ensure consistency and alignment of media messages and outputs.

Profile

  • Experience: Proven experience in a press office or media relations role, preferably within a public sector or campaign-focused environment.
  • Media Expertise: Strong understanding of media channels, relationships, and pitching techniques, with a track record of successfully placing stories and managing media coverage.
  • Proactive Mindset: Demonstrated ability to take initiative, create media opportunities, and drive campaigns that align with organizational goals.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex issues into clear, concise, and compelling media content.

Crisis Management: Ability to handle reactive media inquiries, manage sensitive issues, and respond effectively to potential crises.
