Assistant Buyer Responsibilities:

  • Track daily sales and weekly trade, ensuring all actions for your categories are executed efficiently.
  • Present Monday trade notes and key actions to the team, including your Head of and Director.
  • Collaborate daily with your Merchandising team to manage rebuys, phasing, cancellations, and newness through OTB.
  • Liaise confidently with the supply base, always fostering strong relationships with clear, concise communication.
  • Gather and assess initial costs for any style you plan to include in your range.
  • Negotiate costs effectively, balancing value and quality.
  • Understand and apply pricing structures strategically.
  • Support the Buyer and Designer with clear and effective sample briefs.
  • Assist the BAA with daily admin tasks to ensure smooth operations.
  • Stay on top of market trends, influencers, and fashion movements through active research.
  • Monitor the market for new promotions, collaborations, and launches.
  • Manage the critical path, ensuring timely communication of any delays to the wider team.
  • Propose and implement solutions to critical path issues such as delays, shortages, and cancellations.
  • Oversee samples and approval processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Attend all fit sessions and provide input where needed.
  • Assist with production samples for studio imagery shoots.
  • Support the Buyer in supplier meetings, lessons learned, and range-building discussions.
