Bouygues UK have a stimulating opportunity for an experienced Buyer to work as part of our Procurement and Supply Chain team. In this role you will be involved in Pre-tender and Tender Purchasing of materials for use on Site and covering Site Procurement, Commercial Project Tendering and National Supply Contacts.
Your initial involvement will be with our prestigious Oriel project. Oriel is a joint initiative to transform a two-acre site at St Pancras Hospital to deliver a pioneering eye care, research, and education centre. The project will be a new, state-of-the-art building with an anticipated gross internal area of up to 46,000m2.
Essential
- Experience gained in a construction company commercial role
- Previous experience in Buyer/ Purchasing role would be preferred

Job Purpose and Scope:
- Taking high value or risk sections of the project to sourcing, tender, negotiation, and contract. While developing procedures for the use of the contract by project teams on site
- Sourcing and developing with suppliers, products that can save time and cost. Value Added / Value Engineered discussions
- Managing major supplier accounts for maximum efficiency within the Bouygues UK group procedures, and resolving internal problems when suppliers have concerns
- Identifying with all departments the more important issues related to and surrounding the procurement of a product, for emphasis in the purchasing stages with the suppliers, whether it be piece cost, implementation & installation support service, future maintenance and spares, additional functions, and client stipulations or specifications
- Responsibility of the procurement for certain high-risk products, to ensure continued stock
- Rationalising the UK supplier base, and developing stronger purchasing leverage over strategic suppliers, through the creation of National Supply Contracts for various key commodities
- Ensuring the wider European Purchasing database is kept up to date with the orders and supplier developments from the United Kingdom
