CATEGORY BUYER – PHARMACEUTIAL/ MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY – LONDON/ CHESTER - £50,000 - £55,000 + 10% BONUS + PACKAGE

Pod Talent have partnered with a pioneering and trusted pharmaceutical company to recruit a number of buyers across the direct procurement function. The company is FTSE100 global pharma & technology company, focused on solutions for the management of chronic conditions. Operating across 100+ countries, this is a truly global role for a strategic category manager to put their own stamp on.

Category Buyer – Directs role profile:

This is a key role within the Global Procurement function, driving a high-performance culture and setting the standard for Procurement Excellence. They’re looking for a Category Buyer who will bring a strategic and innovative approach to continue the transformation journey.

  • Lead component Sourcing activity in support of Advanced Operations (AO) and Life Cycle Management (LCM) programmes, in line with the defined Category Strategy. Leading long term, complex projects across the above categories – using both single source and dual sourcing approach.
  • Run RFQs and RFPs for the Category Team to support the Category Strategy and Programme sourcing processes.   
  • Work with relevant Category Director(s)/Category Manager(s) to ensure a fully integrated and customer/business-aligned Convatec-wide category plan for assigned spend area(s). 
  • You will manage customer and supplier relationships to ensure that Category & Sourcing Strategies are highly aligned to current and future Business needs and that the supply base is capable of supporting these strategies.
  • Responsible for the Source to Contract (S2C) process, including souring strategy execution (e.g. RFP/E-Auction), evaluation, recommendation, and award.

The Ideal Category Buyer will have:

  • 3+ years’ experience working within a strategic procurement/ sourcing environment, employing a formal category/sourcing management process.
  • Strong understanding of regulated industries including but not limited to medical, pharma, aviation/aerospace, automotive, oil & gas.
