Steele Charles are delighted to have been retained once again by one of our Food Manufacturing clients in the South East of England. We are looking to speak with Procurement Managers/Heads of Procurement looking for an opportunity to move into a dynamic Head of Procurement role, with huge scope to influence procurement and wider business strategy. 

This role is based on a hybrid directive consisting of two days in office, two days WFH and one day on the road. This is a varied, dynamic role and the right candidate will mirror this in their agility and ability to manage their own diary.

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the organisation's overall objectives and goals.
  • Analyse market trends, supply chain risks and opportunities to optimise procurement processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs and align procurement activities accordingly.
  • Oversee the end-to-end procurement process, including requisition, sourcing, evaluation, negotiation and contract management.

KEY TASKS:

  • To negotiate prices, terms and conditions with suppliers to drive a commercial benefit to the business.
  • Continue to seek new supplier opportunities both home and abroad in line with our technical processes and procedures.
  • To purchase items to an agreed specification from approved suppliers.
  • To work with the Technical Manager to review the performance of new suppliers against defined criteria within the defined trial period of the Supplier Approval Procedure, FSDOC.001.
  • In Liaison with our Production Planning Manager, ensure that products and material can be processed and released to production in a timely manner to meet our production requirements.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities against the bill of materials.
  • To monitor the performance of suppliers using price curves, competitor prices, and conformance to delivery date/quantity.
  • Maintenance of the company ERP system to ensure a smooth flow of product data is continually reviewed and updated in line with latest information.
  • Member of Senior Management Team.
  • Member of Product Recall and Crisis Management teams.
