A Senior Procurement Manager with rail experience is required by a consultancy working with some of the biggest government, infrastructure, defence, and security projects in the UK.

This Senior Procurement Manager role is hybrid, based between working 3 days per week in central London and the remainder of the week working remotely. This could potentially change due to delivery requirements.

The Senior Procurement Manager role will be a 6-month contract, paying £40 - £63 ph inside IR35, depending on experience.

This role is inside IR35 - Due to the service of the role, it will now be based on an Umbrella solution.

Essential skills/experience required:

  • A wide experience of working in the rail industry in a procurement function with a strong understanding of relevant contracts and supporting systems, such as BravoNR and Oracle Projects.
  • Solid commercial acumen with a deep knowledge of the supplier market
  • A proven track record in procurement and contract management, including experience in negotiation and the development and implementation of procurement strategies
  • Strong ability to communicate strategies and concepts clearly and effectively, and to influence and persuade stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of EU Procurement Directives & Procurement Act Directives
  • Awareness of contract safety and environmental requirements.
  • Knowledge of e-procurement. - Desirable
  • Membership of relevant professional institute - Desirable
  • Educated to degree level - Desirable

Role Profile / Responsibilities:

  • Strategic procurement support for the OTM sector, including establishing fitting the minimum viable number of machines, including client-owned and third-party owned machines that require retrofit.
  • Develop project specific procurement strategies that compliment overarching Programme Strategy and maintain security of supply and value for money and HSQE performance.
  • Manage the full spectrum of procurement and contracting activities, including pre-qualification, tender management, negotiation, and contract preparation.
  • Provide procurement advice relating to specific portfolio issues.
  • Support the pre-contract procurement process for main contractors, and actively influence the procurement of sub-contracting activities where applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, governance, legal requirements (including EU Directives), and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Manage preferred supplier relationships
  • Identify and implement cost reduction and efficiency opportunities
  • Oversee the process for measuring supplier performance
