Job Description: M&E Quantity Surveyor

Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum
Location: Central London

Company Overview:
Our client is a leading construction firm renowned for delivering high-profile projects across the UK. With a strong presence in Central London, they are currently involved in a major mixed-use residential design and build project valued at approximately £40 million in MEP. The project spans over two years, providing an excellent opportunity to contribute to a significant and complex development.

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic commercial team. Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial success of a major project. Your expertise will be essential in managing costs, preparing tender documents, and overseeing subcontractor relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Scope Management:
    • Ensure that site supervisory staff fully understand the project's scope of works and the specific inclusions within tender packages.
  • Tender Preparation:
    • Prepare and assemble tender packages for M&E subcontract works.
    • Compile all necessary documents required for the procurement of subcontractors.
  • Contract Documentation:
    • Prepare and manage contracts and documents for inclusion in tender packages, ensuring all legal and project requirements are met.
  • Financial Management:
    • Ensure a positive month-on-month cash flow position, meeting or exceeding forecasted project margins.
    • Prepare accurate forecasts and regularly report on the financial status and cash flow of the project.
  • Subcontract Administration:
    • Administer subcontracts, including processing payments, managing claims, and submitting progress claims to the client.
  • Client and Stakeholder Relations:
    • Maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants to ensure smooth project delivery.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience as an M&E Quantity Surveyor, ideally within large-scale residential or mixed-use projects.
  • Strong understanding of MEP systems, cost management, and project financial control.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard contract forms and procurement processes.
