We are seeking an experienced and proactive Project Managerfor a leading construction company specializing in high-profile heritage and cultural projects. With a passion for cultural heritage, you will be joining the team and leading complex projects that contribute to the safeguarding of our national heritage.

Job Description:
As Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of significant heritage projects from inception to completion. You will work closely with clients, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are completed to the highest standards, within budget, and on schedule. Your experience in the heritage sector will be invaluable in navigating the unique challenges of working with historic structures while ensuring compliance with conservation and restoration regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the management and delivery of heritage projects, ensuring all work meets quality, cost, and time targets
  • Develop and maintain project plans, budgets, and schedules, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Oversee the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring they meet the required standards for heritage works
  • Coordinate with architects, surveyors, conservation specialists, and other stakeholders to ensure the heritage aspects of the project are preserved
  • Manage site operations, including supervising staff, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and maintaining quality control
  • Ensure that all necessary permits, licenses, and approvals are obtained and comply with heritage conservation regulations
  • Address any issues or changes that may arise during the project, ensuring they are managed effectively and communicated with all relevant parties
  • Provide regular updates to clients on project progress, budgets, and potential risks
  • Manage project documentation, including contracts, reports, and change orders
  • Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a collaborative working environment

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager, with specific experience in the heritage sector and working on conservation or restoration projects
  • Strong knowledge of the UK heritage sector, conservation practices, and relevant building regulations and standards
  • Degree in Project Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline
  • Experience working with traditional building materials and techniques used in heritage projects
  • Excellent project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and procurement
  • Strong understanding of conservation ethics and the ability to manage heritage-specific challenges
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with clients, stakeholders, and team members effectively
  • Full understanding of health and safety regulations in construction
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Asta Powerproject, Procore)
  • Ideally, membership or accreditation from a professional body (e.g., RICS, APM, CIOB)
