Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Fit Out, Construction, Engineering
The Role:The Quantity Surveyor will support the commercial management of fit-out, construction, or engineering projects. This role is primarily remote, with occasional travel to Park Royal as required. The position is suitable for junior to intermediate-level professionals with 4-7 years of experience. The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for cost management, contract administration, and financial reporting to ensure projects are delivered within budget and to high commercial standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Cost Management:
    • Prepare, manage, and track project budgets, ensuring accurate cost control.
    • Measure and value work done on-site, and prepare interim valuations and final accounts.
    • Identify and report cost variances, and provide advice on cost-saving strategies.
  • Contract Administration:
    • Assist with the preparation and review of contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual terms.
    • Handle contract claims and variations, preparing documentation and ensuring timely resolution.
    • Manage procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring best value and quality.
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare monthly cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow analysis.
    • Provide financial updates to the commercial team and project managers, highlighting key risks and opportunities.
    • Support project audits and ensure all financial documentation is maintained and up to date.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with project managers, site teams, and clients to ensure commercial objectives are met.
    • Attend project meetings as needed, providing commercial input and support.
    • Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
Key Skills and Experience:
  • 4-7 years of experience in a Quantity Surveyor or commercial role within fit-out, construction, or engineering environments.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, cost management, and procurement processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, prepare financial reports, and control project costs.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Good communication skills, able to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software, such as MS Office and project management tools.
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience working in a fit-out or live retail environment.
  • Knowledge of JCT or NEC contracts.
  • Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., RICS, CIOB).
Remuneration:
  • Permanent position with a salary range of £30,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on experience.
