This 30-year-old principal contractor has an impressive background (and order book) in design & build construction and interior fit-out works.
There is an immediate requirement for a Project Surveyor (Quantity Surveyor) to work on a 16m high-end hotel refurb / fit-out (the project starts after Christmas, so is a good time to join!). The Quantity Surveyor will be expected to control the commercial activity of the project, including surveying, monitoring project progress, controlling costs and expenditure in order to maximize income and cashflow.
You will need to have would need to have 2-3 years' experience of working on main contractor works, with a good knowledge of JCT.
Example Quantity Surveying duties:
Manage commercial and contractual arrangements
Monitor and assess project progress on a monthly basis
Initiate invoicing of customers for work completed in line with commercial and contractual arrangements in place
Price, negotiate and agree costs and budgets for project variances
Resolve commercial and contractual disputes
Manage and maximize cashflow to meet company standards and budgets
Produce financial and management reports that monitor project progress
Responsible for subcontractor enquiries, selection and order in line with individual project requirements
At other companies this role could also be referred to as: Quantity Surveyor, QS, Project Surveyor, Project QS, Project Quantity Surveyor, Cost Manager, Financial Manager or Commercial Manager.
