Quantity Surveyor

Our client is a leading provider of logistics services to the construction industry. They specialise in delivering efficient and cost-effective solutions to their clients, ensuring that construction projects are completed on time and within budget. As they continue to expand their operations, they are seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to join their team and contribute to the success of their projects.

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial success and cost-efficiency of projects. You will be responsible for accurately estimating project costs, managing budgets, and minimising expenses while maintaining the highest quality standards. Your expertise will be vital in helping to deliver exceptional logistics services to construction industry clients.

What's in it for you?

  • Monday to Friday (8am - 6pm with 1 hour lunch break. Or 8am - 5pm with 30-minute lunch break).
  • £55,000 - £65,000
  • 5 days in office with visits on site when needed.
  • 28 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays) and as of next year plus a day for each year worked.
  • Office based + travel to sites in London and the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage costs and perform cost analysis for a wide range of construction and logistics projects, ensuring projects stay on budget and meet deadlines.
  • Assist with preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Oversee risk and value management to protect projects and ensure cost control throughout the lifecycle.
  • Allocate work to subcontractors and manage relationships, providing advice on contractual claims.
  • Valuate completed work, arrange payments, and prepare detailed progress and financial reports for clients and internal teams.
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations, building contracts, and statutory guidelines on all projects.
  • Represent the company professionally in dealings with clients at all levels and provide transparency on project progress.
  • Travel to project sites as required, collaborate with Contract and Site Managers, and assist with administrative tasks and performance reviews.

Role Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally in logistics or construction.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, industry standards, and statutory building regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and construction cost estimating software, with strong financial management skills.
  • Proven experience in managing construction costs, budgets, and commercial risks effectively.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to engage with clients and internal teams.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Willingness to travel to sites and work towards or hold an RICS or CIOB accredited qualification.
  • Ability to identify commercial opportunities, meet financial targets, and maintain a focus on cost-saving measures.
