Quantity Surveyor
This role will involve managing cost and commercial aspects of a variety of projects and task orders issued against the service contract. The successful candidate will utilise a mixture of fixed price quotations and the selected schedule of rates (SOR) to put together estimates. Use quantity surveying/measure software to produce final accounts for issuing to our client. Duties will also include management of the WIP for the projects team, assisting in the production estimates and meeting the client QS and auditor to resolve queries and agree accounts for invoicing.
The Role
Main Responsibilities:
Quantity Take-off: Measuring and quantifying the quantities of Mechanical and Electrical components needed for the project, such as cables, conduits, switches, outlets, lighting fixtures, Pipework, fittings, pumps, vessels and other mechanical or electrical equipment. Complete measured estimates on the measuring software utilised on the contract.
Pricing and Procurement: Obtaining quotes and negotiating prices for materials and equipment from suppliers and subcontractors. Managing the procurement process to ensure timely delivery of components.
Budgeting: Assisting in the preparation and monitoring of project/minor work forecasts and budgets, alongside contract manager and supervisor, ensuring that costs are accurately accounted for.
Cost Control: Monitoring costs and expenses during the project, identifying cost-saving opportunities and potential cost overruns.
Final Account Preparation: Preparing the final account for the mechanical and electrical works, which includes comparing actual costs against estimates and accounting for any variations or changes. Liaise directly with the client QS and auditor to manage and resolve queries.
Communication:Communicate clearly and closely, sharing information and updates regularly to all team members, the client and end users to support the drive for service improvement across the contract.
QSHE:Comply with a no-compromise approach to Health & Safety regulations and PPE and report any near misses or potential hazards.
Learning & Development:Mentor Junior staff/apprentice QS. Provide ongoing development activities to stretch the team and identify specific requirements as part of one to ones and PDRs.
Any other duties as required / requested by the Contract Manager.

- Monday to Friday, 8.00am-5.00pm

Qualifications and Experience Required
Essential:
Previous experience as Quantity Surveyor for M&E contracts (contractor side).
Qualified Electrical or Mechanical
Good analytical skills
Results/ task orientated, attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. IT Literate.
Experience working on Measured Term Contract (MTC)
Excellent time management and organisational skills
Experience pricing works and producing quotations and cost breakdowns.
Desirable:
Qualified Electrical and Mechanical.
Experience using CAFM systems.
Asbestos Awareness.
Experience/Knowledge of NEC3 contracts.
An understanding of the requirements of Health and Safety Compliance within an M&E environment
Knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical installation, maintenance, and inspection, testing and commissioning.
Have a flexible approach.
Understanding of the CDM regulations 2015.
SSSTS/SMSTS qualification.
