Our client is in search of a highly skilled and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team. With expertise in Passive Fire Protection, they are pivotal in delivering a wide array of projects across various airports and data centres. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing the cost aspects of these projects, ensuring timely completion while adhering to budget constraints. The ideal applicant will have a solid foundation in Quantity Surveying, along with relevant experience working on projects for Tier 1 Contractors and a background in specialist subcontracting.

Responsibilities:
Project Cost Management:

  • Utilize the NEC or FIDIC contract to effectively manage and control project costs from inception to completion.
  • Conduct thorough cost analysis, budget review and value engineering to optimize project financial performance.
  • Generate information necessary for EWNs and CEs, providing timely and accurate submissions in line with the contract.
  • Prepare, submit and negotiate agreement on all monthly applications.

Tendering and Procurement:

  • Prepare and manage the tendering process for subcontractors, suppliers and other project-related services.
  • Evaluate and negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring compliance with project requirements and budget constraints.

Contract Administration:

  • Review Contract Documentation.
  • Administer the contracts, ensuring compliance with contract terms and conditions, with particular focus on time critical obligations.
  • Work closely with project teams to mitigate commercial risks and resolve contractual disputes.
  • Implement robust change control procedures to manage variations and claims effectively.

Cost Reporting:

  • Prepare and present regular monthly cost reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide comprehensive cost analysis and forecasting, highlighting potential issues and recommending corrective actions.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate closely with the project management team, design teams and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure Client Relationship is maintained with regular dialogue and meetings.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • BSc degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of NEC contracts and their application.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in relevant software tools such as MS Excel, cost estimating software, and project management tools.
