We are recruiting an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor for a well-established, medium-sized residential main contractor to help close out one of their South East London projects. The project consists of 50 residential units spread across 5 sites in close proximity within Greenwich.

As the Lead Quantity Surveyor on this project, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial management and commercial aspects of the project, ensuring it is closed out efficiently, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of quantity surveying, including cost control, contract management, and budget tracking across multiple sites.
  • Provide accurate cost forecasting and valuations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to manage and resolve contractual issues and claims.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, assess costs, and ensure compliance with project specifications and budget.
  • Review and approve payment applications, variations, and final accounts.
  • Manage procurement of materials, services, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery.
  • Ensure that all project documentation is completed to the required standards, including preparing and submitting final accounts.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the project team on cost-effective solutions and alternative methods.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with strong experience in residential projects, preferably in a lead or senior role.
  • Previous experience in managing the closure phase of residential construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of cost management, contract law, and project scheduling.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple sites simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Must be based within a commutable distance of Greenwich, London.
