An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a seasoned Quantity Surveyor to join a leading SME contractor renowned for their expertise in the construction sector. The role is centred around managing the commercial facets of recently awarded projects across Rail, Civils, and Buildings projects.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, ensuring stringent cost control.
  • Provide accurate forecasts by reviewing and commenting on the latest programmes.
  • Compile, review, and submit periodic applications to the client.
  • Evaluate and negotiate applications and contracts with suppliers.
  • Oversee variations, valuations, and final accounts for both the client and suppliers.
  • Offer cost advice and conduct feasibility assessments in collaboration with project teams.
  • Perform regular site visits and inspections to ensure progress aligns with specifications and regulations.
  • Prepare and submit progress reports, financial statements, and other necessary documentation.
  • Manage risk and opportunity within the project ambit.
  • Maintain regular client interface and engage with the commercial counterpart.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
  • Rail sector experience, with a preference for those skilled in Building refurbishments and general Civils.
  • Exceptional analytical and numerical skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction contracts, regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in IT and Microsoft packages, coupled with excellent report writing skills.
  • A self-driven, results-oriented individual with a positive outlook.
