The Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team. You will play a crucial role in supporting project delivery teams, providing commercial guidance, and driving financial performance across a range of civil engineering projects valued from £200k to £10m+. Your commercial acumen will help identify opportunities, manage risks, and ensure project profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate and timely cost and value reporting at project and business unit levels.
- Prepare and update monthly CVRs, cost forecasts, and cash flow reports.
- Manage subcontract procurement, negotiation, and financial accounting.
- Oversee applications for payment, valuations, and final account settlements.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders on commercial issues, including contractual changes and claims.
- Ensure compliance with IChemE and NEC contract forms and commercial governance.
- Proactively identify commercial risks and opportunities to protect and enhance project margins.
- Mentor and support junior commercial team members.
About You:Essential:
- Proven experience in the construction or civil engineering industry & Water/Utilties
- Strong knowledge of IChemE and NEC contracts and construction law.
- Expertise in cost management, forecasting, and subcontract procurement.
- Excellent communication, numerical, and IT skills (proficient in Microsoft Office).
- Strong organisational and time management skills with attention to detail.
Desirable:
- Degree or HND in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent).
- Chartered or working towards RICS or relevant professional body membership.
- CSCS card holder.
- Estimation experience and knowledge of direct delivery contracting.
