The Role: The Senior Quantity Surveyor will provide commercial support to the project team, ensuring commercial information is accurate, contractual compliance is maintained, and the Companys Three Pillar objectives are achieved. The role involves liaising with customer representatives and third parties on commercial issues such as variations, claims, and additional payments. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will also assist in managing the commercial team and oversee subcontract negotiations and financial accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure robust, accurate, and timely cost and value reporting at both project and business unit levels.
- Maintain accurate cash flow reporting.
- Manage costs, including forecasting, and update the monthly CVR, cost, and commercial plans.
- Ensure adherence to commercial processes across the business unit, continually seeking improvements.
- Understand and assist in developing commercial processes within JV/Alliance agreements.
- Review and ensure that main contract terms are appropriate for Client, identifying commercial risks.
- Engage with the supply chain to ensure appropriate contract terms and conditions.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with Client, subcontractors, and the commercial team.
- Supervise and mentor Quantity Surveyors, assisting in the management of the commercial team and supporting cost clerks and other commercial support staff.
- Accurate monthly forecasting.
- Ability to challenge resource and cost allocation.

Essential:
- HND/degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
- Previous experience in the civil engineering industry.
- Familiarity with ICE/NEC forms of contract (NEC3 or NEC4) and current Construction Law.
- Extensive experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors.
- Strong knowledge of monthly reporting and earned value analysis.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to support and mentor junior team members.
- Experience working with contractors, particularly in the water sector, and managing data-heavy, open-book contracts.
- Member of RICS or working towards it.
