Senior Quantity Surveyor - MEP

 

Recruiting Company: Red Sky Personnel, on behalf of a global Tier 1 main contractor

Project Location: Euston Station, HS2 project

 

Job Overview:

As the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will oversee and manage the cost and contract management aspects of a section of the project, specifically focusing on MEP and Utilities, from initiation to close-out. Your role is critical in ensuring that financial targets and contractual obligations are met while maintaining efficient project delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer contractual terms and conditions for suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Oversee the management of incentivisation arrangements.
  • Assess Early Warning Notices (EWNs) and compensation events.
  • Provide regular cash flow forecasts and report expenditure against project targets.
  • Manage the change management process, assessing changes and risks to project outcomes.
  • Produce monthly consolidated cost/expenditure reports.
  • Oversee the monthly valuation process and handle contractor/supplier claims.
  • Finalise contractor accounts and close out contracts.
  • Raise consultant, supplier, or contractor instructions as necessary.
  • Conduct audits and ensure proper management of project financial contingencies.
  • Oversee risk management and assist in tender documentation preparation.
  • Manage contractor payments and support the change control process to identify cost implications of project adjustments.
  • Prepare final accounts for all contract packages.

 

Technical Skills and Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of commercial management in major construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of NEC Contracts and integrated reporting systems.
  • Proficiency in IT applications related to commercial control and change management.

 

Behavioral Competencies:

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Ability to manage both strategic and detailed aspects of project delivery.
  • Confident in presenting to senior management and stakeholders.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Extensive experience in commercial management of large-scale (£100M+) projects.
  • RICS or similar formal qualification, or proven equivalent experience.
