Role Overview: Our Client is a leading rail infrastructure provider, currently undertaking a major project to enhance the UK rail network. Due to our continued growth, we are expanding our team and seeking a Head of Operations to lead the operational delivery of this high-profile infrastructure project.

The Head of Operations will oversee the day-to-day operations of the rail infrastructure project, ensuring efficient, safe, and timely delivery. This role involves managing resources, schedules, and stakeholder relationships, as well as ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operational Leadership:

    • Oversee all operational aspects of the project, ensuring timely and quality delivery.
    • Develop and implement processes to support seamless project execution.
  • Resource & Schedule Management:

    • Manage project resources and schedules to meet milestones and deadlines.
    • Optimize operational efficiency and resource allocation.
  • Safety & Compliance:

    • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and rail industry regulations.
    • Lead risk management and safety audits throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Stakeholder Coordination:

    • Serve as the main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Provide regular operational updates to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Problem Solving:

    • Address operational challenges quickly, ensuring minimal impact on project delivery.
    • Implement corrective actions where needed to resolve issues.
Skills & Experience:
  • 10+ years in rail operations or infrastructure projects, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience managing large-scale rail or construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of project management, rail industry standards, and safety compliance.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications:
  • Project management certification (PRINCE2, PMP) preferred.
  • Membership with a professional body is a plus.
