�? Our client, a renowned Historical Society based in the heart of Holborn, London, is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Afternoon Receptionist to join their vibrant team on a 12-month contract. This is a fantastic chance to be at the heart of a thriving research centre and provide essential support to their operations.�?

? Contract Length: 12 months

? Working Pattern: Full Time, Monday to Friday, from 3:30pm to 8:30pm

?? Remuneration: £13.15 per hour

?? Role Overview:

As our client's Afternoon Receptionist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the historical institute. From securing the building at the end of the day to assisting with events and exhibitions, your presence will be crucial in creating a welcoming and secure environment for all visitors. ??

?? Key Responsibilities:

  • Safeguarding the building by securing and locking up, including the activation of the alarm system. ??
  • Monitoring and managing the entrance, welcoming and verifying library users. ??
  • Operating and overseeing the CCTV system for increased security. ??
  • Recording any incidents and promptly following emergency procedures when necessary. ??
  • Receiving and managing deliveries and postal items. ??
  • Providing excellent assistance and responses to queries, both in person and over the phone. ??
  • Regular patrols of reading rooms and the surrounding area. ??
  • Offering support during events, conferences, and exhibitions. �?
  • Collaborating with the library and other departments within the institute. ??
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Head Librarian and the Head of Administration. ??

?? Requirements:

  • Excellent command of the English language (at least C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). �?
  • Previous experience in reception or customer service roles, prioritising professionalism and friendliness. ??
  • Flexibility to cover staffing gaps due to staff illness or emergencies at short notice. ??
  • Diligence in following established procedures and ensuring safety protocols are adhered to. ???
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and calmly in a fast-paced environment. ??
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to provide assistance effectively. ???
  • Willingness to contribute to the positive atmosphere and collaborative spirit of the institute. ??
