About the Role

As a Compliance Officer in Health and Safety, you'll play an essential part in supporting our housing team by ensuring safe living conditions across our shared housing sites. This role involves proactive health and safety monitoring, regular inspections, and clear communication to tenants regarding their responsibilities. Working closely with Housing Officers, you'll help enforce compliance to maintain a secure environment for all residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Health & Safety Management: Maintain up-to-date records on fire safety, risk assessments, and gas/electrical certificates.
  • Inspections & Checks: Conduct monthly fire alarm tests and safety inspections in shared houses, assisting with contractor access and health checks as needed.
  • Tenant & Team Support: Advise tenants on safety obligations, support Housing Officers in enforcement, and prepare compliance documents.
  • Proactive Engagement: Build positive relationships with tenants, address potential issues early, and contribute to building risk assessments.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience: Two years in housing, supported housing, or a health and safety role.
  • Skills: Familiarity with housing-related health and safety practices, record-keeping, and conducting visual inspections.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal skills to liaise effectively with tenants and external parties.
