Butler Rose is working with one of the largest housing associations in London and the south-east in their search for a Service Charge Officer to join their team. This is a minimum three month temp role with hybrid working in London and will pay £22.24/hour to the successful candidate.
Duties:* The role will be dedicated to Places & Estates directorate specifically focusing on service charge projects. You will work with stakeholders across the business including the dedicated Estate Operations Manager to review historic service charge accounts.* Review and reconcile complex service charge accounts* Work on large, complex schemes related to service charges* Understand and manage estates, blocks, cores, and schedules within a large estate structure* Handle apportionments using different bases such as equal split, square footage, bedrooms, bed spaces, market rent, etc.* Lead on the projects & be accountable for working through a defined number of service charge accounts that have been issued a Section 20b and seeing them through to audit and delivery within the 6-month period.* Also review any complaints and queries from residents to service charge accounts that have already been served.* Support the Estate Operations Manager with engaging with residents and responding to any queries, documenting any decisions and lessons learnt.
Ideal candidate will have:* Significant experience of working compliantly with varying service charge regimes (variable), on large mixed tenure schemes* Strong experience of analysing and working through complex service charge accounts with ability to reconcile.* Experience of reading and understanding tenancy agreements & leases.* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to explain service charge information in plain English to residents.* Strong IT skills, including advanced Excel.* An IRPM or Accounting background in service charges would also be very beneficial.
