We're looking for a visionary Head of Housing Allocations and Accommodation to join Ealing Council's Housing Demand team and play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional housing services. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Housing Demand, you'll lead multi-disciplinary teams to meet the council's statutory housing responsibilities, optimise service delivery, and drive sustainable solutions to address homelessness and housing needs. The annual salary ranges from 83,094.00- 87,513.00.

Location: Perceval House, Ealing (West London)
Grade: CB4
Hours: 35 each week (Monday to Friday, hybrid working)

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and manage housing allocations and accommodation services, ensuring compliance with legislation (Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Reduction Act 2017) and best practices.
  • Develop innovative strategies to reduce temporary accommodation usage and support households into secure, permanent housing.
  • Oversee budgets and resources efficiently, identifying funding opportunities and maximising value for money.
  • Build strong partnerships with internal teams, external stakeholders, and community groups to enhance service delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement, ensuring policies and procedures adapt to changing demands, regulations, and legislative requirements.


What We're Looking For:

  • Significant experience in housing or a related field, with expertise in housing legislation and policy.
  • Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop teams to deliver outstanding performance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to tackle complex housing challenges.
  • Demonstrated success in managing budgets, securing funding, and delivering innovative housing solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset, with experience working across agencies and sectors.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Degree in a related field such as Housing, Social Work, or Public Administration.
  • Level 4/5 Housing Certificate/Diploma or equivalent (or willingness to work towards this qualification).
  • Membership in a professional body (e.g., Chartered Institute of Housing).
  • Evidence of continuous professional development, including leadership and project management training.
