Butler Rose is working with one of the largest housing associations in London and the South-East in their search for a Service Charge Officer to contribute to their vision of delivering high-quality service charges to residents. This is a contract role till 20th May 2025 with hybrid working (3 days in the office) and will pay £22.24 PAYE an hour to the successful candidate. Key Responsibilities: * Service Charge Framework: Collaborate with External Managing Agents to establish a framework for understanding billing cycles, ensuring smooth operations with appropriate challenges/amendments. * Cost Management: Track both costs and resident charges to guarantee the recovery of all appropriate costs. Assist operational colleagues with the split of recoverable and irrecoverable costs where necessary. * Collaboration: Work under a Service Charge Business Partner alongside peers to ensure consistent practices and share best practices. * Compliance and Communication: Be proficient in service charge compliance legislation and adept at using Excel and other tools to manage numbers effectively. Our client is seeking an individual who combines numerical proficiency with excellent communication skills. You will: * Be as confident working with spreadsheets as engaging with local officers to see how service charges are applied to properties. * Have a talent for breaking down complex service charge accounts into clear, accessible, and inclusive explanations for operational colleagues and residents. * Be a strong written and verbal communicator, able to motivate and support colleagues and stakeholders. * Proactively identify risks and seek solutions, flagging issues to stakeholders as needed. * Take pride in your work, advocate for residents, and foster a culture of service improvement.
