Associate Director (Deliberative Research)

Our client is an insight-led strategic advisory firm dedicated to putting public and stakeholder opinion at the heart of their clients' thinking. Their research methodologies span all qualitative and quantitative techniques, and they have a diverse client base across the private, public and third sectors.

We are looking for an AD to join the engagement/deliberation/dialogue practice. In addition to a strong focus on high quality research skills, project management expertise and plenty of initiative, proactivity, enthusiasm we are looking for some specific technical abilities:

  • These include public engagement, public dialogue, deliberative research or engagement, community engagement, patient or public participation and involvement, citizens juries or assemblies, co-creation or co-production. All of these projects are about involving people in making decisions, policy or plans – not just providing research data to a client.
  • You will likely have public sector experience, s. This could be agency or in house, but with someone coming from government, third sector or academia we would need a really clear account of how they were going to hit the ground running in an agency context.
  • Experience in winning new business and bid writing.
  • Grounding in wider qualitative methods and quantitative experience will be highly advantageous.
  • Key to this role is fieldwork, there are a lot of really exciting and large-scale public engagement projects lined up, so we would really like to see people with experience running face to face workshops and events, who have an understanding of participant experience, and supporting inclusion. The role is going to involve evening and weekend working, as most qual roles do, (there is a great TOIL and flexible working policies in place to support this).
  • Strong project management including juggling lots of activity, freelancers and venues etc, big budgets and teams.
