Join the School of Business and Management, a globally recognised institution for research and teaching. We are seeking a Research and PhD Administrator to enhance our postgraduate research programme administration and support the growing demands of our staff and students.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Engage with students, academic supervisors, and the PhD Programme Director to support the PhD/MRes programmes, enhancing the student-academic cycle of activities.
  • Utilise the University’s bespoke systems alongside the School’s systems and processes for data analysis, problem identification, and solution development.
  • Coordinate the School’s PhD/MRes induction programme and ensure essential documentation is distributed to new researchers.
  • Act as the first point of contact for Research Degrees enquiries, updating student records and modes of attendance as necessary.
  • Monitor student attendance and compliance with the Points Based Immigration system, reporting any discrepancies.
  • Organise PhD Taught Programme and additional workshops in liaison with the PhD Director.
  • Maintain and update PhD student profiles on the School’s website and manage the QMPlus environment for Doctoral Programme activities.
  • Coordinate student progression panels, PhD viva voce exams, and act as the committee secretary for relevant meetings, ensuring all documentation is prepared.
  • Assist with MRes/PhD student applications and respond to applicant and student enquiries providing high-level advice and support.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in an administrative role within an academic setting, preferably within a business and management school.
  • Familiarity with university systems and processes, particularly those related to postgraduate research programmes.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with students, staff, and external bodies.
  • Proficient in data management and analysis, with a good understanding of database systems and standard office software.
  • Knowledge of UK higher education and research degree regulations, including visa compliance and UKVI regulations.
