The Research Integrity & Data Manager role:
This position has responsibility for managing and curating all data, code, figures and any other artefacts associated with research publications and is responsible for both research integrity and open data services within the Library and Information Services team.
The Library and Information Services team sits within the Information Technology Office (ITO) team within the Francis Crick Institute and is responsible for the design, implementation and operation of all IT applications which manage the running of the institute, along with the publication and library services provided to scientists.
Responsibilities of our Research Integrity & Data Manager:
These include but are not limited to:
- Overseeing an archiving system for data underlying Crick publications and research
- Monitoring and adding all Crick generated public datasets into Crick’s research information management system
- Promoting open research and FAIR data
- Reviewing data submitted to the Crick Figshare repository
- Supporting the research integrity training programme for all Crick staff, including new PhD students, postdocs, laboratory research scientists and Group Leaders (reproducibility, data management, , record keeping, sharing data, and using Crick’s archiving system)
- Advising on good research practice
- Liaising and collaborating with other research integrity and data management staff
- Engaging the sector and supporting the organisation of external events
- Keeping Intranet data management support pages up to date with best practice and in line with Crick’s core funders’ data policies
Skills and experience we are looking for in our Research Integrity & Data Manager:
Essential
Qualifications, experience and competencies
- Experience supporting scientific research
- Excellent domain knowledge of research integrity, academic publication and policies relating to open research
- Excellent domain knowledge of open research and FAIR data
- Experience of using knowledge management systems and tracking actions using spreadsheets/databases
- Good oral and written communication skills within teams and with stakeholders
- Good time management, prioritisation of workloads and ability to follow standard operating procedures without supervision
Desirable
Qualifications, experience and competencies
- Background in libraries or research support
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant information management or STEM field
- Experience in working on research integrity, research data management or open research activities
- Knowledge and understanding of different data repositories (especially within the biomedical field)
- Experience of developing and providing training
- Knowledge of the organisational culture of a research institute and/or HEI
