Role Overview

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Cafe or Restaurant Manager to oversee the daily operations of our café, ensuring exceptional customer experiences, a motivated and well-managed team, and adherence to all health and safety regulations. This role requires a dynamic leader with strong project management skills to drive operational efficiency and deliver business goals.

Key Responsibilities

1. People Leadership
  • Recruit, train, and onboard staff to build a skilled, cohesive team.
  • Manage staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts while optimising labour costs.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages growth, accountability, and motivation.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, set individual and team goals, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Address team concerns promptly, ensuring a supportive and fair workplace.
2. Customer Service
  • Lead by example in providing excellent customer service, setting the standard for the team.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Monitor service quality and implement improvements to enhance the customer experience.
  • Promote customer loyalty by ensuring a welcoming and enjoyable environment
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to create promotions or events that drive customer engagement.
3. Health and Safety
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene regulations at all times.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Train staff on health and safety policies, food handling, and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records for compliance, including cleaning schedules, temperature logs, and incident reports.
  • Address any health and safety issues promptly, implementing corrective measures where needed.
4. Project Management
  • Oversee inventory management, ensuring stock levels are maintained and wastage is minimised.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure timely delivery of quality supplies at competitive prices.
  • Develop and implement operational procedures to optimize efficiency and service delivery.
  • Monitor financial performance, including budgets, sales targets, and cost controls, and prepare regular reports.
  • Lead small-scale improvement projects, such as menu updates, café refurbishments, or new service initiatives.
5. Sales and Financial Growth
  • Drive sales by analysing performance metrics and identifying opportunities for growth.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase revenue, from upselling to creative promotions
  • Set and achieve sales targets, celebrating wins with your team.
  • Monitor costs and budgets to ensure profitability while maintaining quality.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Proven experience in a managerial role within the hospitality or café industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a focus on creating positive experiences.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety standards for food and beverage establishments.
  • Exceptional organisational and project management skills.
  • Proficient in Gsuite.
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to analyse performance metrics.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
