Capacity: 40 covers (plus 30 covers seasonal outside terrace)

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead the operations of our soon-to-be-launched 40-cover modern European restaurant and wine bar.

Located in a new commercial district close to The London Stadium in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

The ideal candidate will have a proven background in managing premium dining establishments, with strong leadership skills, a passion for hospitality & customer service, and an understanding of modern European cuisine and wine. As General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations, ensuring the highest standards of service, driving revenue, and fostering a positive team culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Management: Oversee the daily operations of the restaurant, ensuring seamless service across all front-of-house activities and smooth collaboration with the kitchen team.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, inspire, and manage the front-of-house team, ensuring excellent customer service and operational efficiency. Conduct regular staff meetings, performance reviews, and staff training.
  • Customer Experience: Ensure every guest has an exceptional dining experience, managing customer feedback and responding proactively to any issues.
  • Financial Performance: Monitor and manage the restaurant's financial performance, including budgeting, cost control, and revenue generation. Meet financial targets, including profitability and cost management.
  • Stock & Supplier Management: Oversee procurement and maintain relationships with suppliers, ensuring quality products and cost efficiency.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards, including food safety regulations.
  • Marketing & Promotions: Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute strategies to increase restaurant visibility, drive bookings, and grow customer loyalty.
  • Event Management: Plan and manage private events, seasonal offerings, and promotional activities to enhance the restaurant's profile.
  • Wine & Beverage Program: Work closely with the sommelier and head chef to curate and manage a premium wine list and beverage program that complements the modern European menu.
  • Innovation: Stay current with industry trends to introduce fresh ideas and maintain a competitive edge.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experienceas a General Manager or Assistant General Manager in a high-quality restaurant or hospitality setting.
  • Strong leadership skillswith the ability to motivate, develop, and manage a diverse team.
  • Exceptional customer servicefocus, with a passion for creating memorable guest experiences.
  • Financial acumenwith experience managing budgets, P&L, and cost control.
  • Knowledge of food and wineservice, including modern European cuisine and an extensive wine list.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and manage high-pressure situations.
  • Proficient in staff training, team building, and developmentto maintain high standards.
  • Health & safety knowledge, with a strong understanding of food safety and licensing regulations.

Must have:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experiencein a General Manager or senior front-of-house role in a high-quality restaurant.
  • Strong knowledge of wineand modern European cuisine, with the ability to enhance the dining experience.
  • Exceptional leadership qualities, with the ability to manage a busy restaurant and motivate a team.

Salary: Competitive, based on experience (£39k+)
