Business Development / Relationship Manager

Lewisham + local travel (Lewisham/Bromley), 50:50 hybrid remote

35 hours per week, flexible across the day, 12-month contract to go permanent at the end

£34k - £38k dependent upon experience + free parking + 25 days’ holiday + bank holidays + 4% pension scheme + healthcare assistance (glasses, etc…)

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and driven Business Development / Relationship Manager to join a well-established organisation.

Our client is a not-for-profit financial institution, whose goal is to give back to the local community by providing ethical finance to those in need. Established for over 30 years, they serve people who live in Lewisham, Bromley, and surrounding areas.

They’re looking for a Business Development / Relationship Manager to develop new relationships with local businesses as payroll partners whilst maintaining and capitalising on existing ones. This role will involve independent business development and relationship management, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow with the organisation and the role and make a real impact on an ethical nonprofit.

The ideal candidate would be somebody who would be comfortable and confident at starting new conversations with businesses, charities, and local government, would be able to hit the ground running, and has at least 2 years of experience in a business development or relationship management role. The role

Day-to-day responsibilities

  • Calls & meetings with potential new payroll partner organisations
  • Presenting and being present at local community events to promote the services of the organisation
  • Building relationships with new organisations from scratch
  • Engagement with partners and existing relationships

The Person

Essential

  • Experience building and utilising networks
  • Able to demonstrate successful selling and presentation skills
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a business development / relationship management role
  • Ability to sell and build relationships empathetically – this is NOT a hard sales or telesales role
  • 5x GCSEs including English and Mathematics
  • Self-motivated and a self-starter
  • Proactive and confident
  • Highly intuitive
  • Team player
  • Excellent verbal & written communicator

Desirable

  • Financial services experience
  • Educated to A-level or degree level
  • Marketing / sales promotion experience
  • Charity / third sector / not-for-profit experience
  • Any entrepreneurial or self-employed experience
  • Experience promoting money management / advice
  • Experience either in or managing relationships with local government / central government / public sector organisations
