This role is perfect for someone with a proven ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including communities, partner organisations, private sector providers, Government bodies, and public agencies.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements; Finance Assistant - Local Government:

  • Engagement and Relationship Building: Demonstrated ability to establish positive relationships and work collaboratively with various communities and partner organisations.
  • Confidentiality: Ability to maintain confidentiality when exchanging information with the public, colleagues, and partners.
  • SEND Knowledge: While knowledge of the role of professionals working with children and young people with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and their families is desirable, a strong understanding of the needs and development of children with SEND is preferred.
  • Legislation Understanding: An awareness of SEND legislation is highly desirable.

Person Specification; Finance Assistant - Local Government:

  • Communication Skills: Advanced ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to a diverse range of individuals.
  • Organisational Skills: Ability to organise your own workload, ensuring that targets and deadlines are consistently met.
  • Microsoft Excel Proficiency: Advanced skills in Excel for data recording, maintenance, and financial data manipulation.
  • Teamwork and Initiative: A collaborative team player with the ability to work independently when necessary.

Skills and Experience; Finance Assistant - Local Government:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Intermediate).
  • Solid understanding of financial procedures, including bank reconciliation, financial statements, and auditing procedures (Intermediate).
  • Previous experience in a similar financial role, particularly account reconciliations (Intermediate).
